Ben Pennington paid us a visit on January 31st – sun-kissed but still sporting his Schöffel!

Ben was Deputy Head of King’s Ely Senior from 2018 to 2021. He, his wife, Emma, and their children, Coco and Cassius, swapped the soils of Cambridgeshire for the plains of North-West Kenya in December 2021, when Ben was appointed Head of St Andrew’s School, Turi.

Ben and two of his colleagues, Michael Okidia and Frankie Gichuru, are visiting a number of independent schools here in the UK to forge links and share good practice. St Andrew’s School, Turi is a leading independent preparatory and secondary school, situated near Nakuru. Like King’s, it was rated as excellent in all areas in its latest Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) inspection.

It was fantastic to catch up with Ben and to meet Frankie and Michael, who were both very complimentary of the warm welcome they received, and the engaging nature of our students and staff. Bring on the return trip!
