Students and staff from Reception through to Year 13 came together inside Ely Cathedral on Friday (May 5th) morning for our special service to celebrate King Charles III’s Coronation.

The atmosphere was incredible from the get-go, as Chapel Choir and the Choristers of Ely Cathedral Choir opened the event with a beautiful rendition of Handel’s ‘Zadok the Priest’.

Families and friends of the school were able to attend the service or watch it live online, and to see the congregation drenched in so much red, blue, and white was quite a spectacle.

Principal of King’s Ely, John Attwater, spoke of the symbolism involved in the Coronation service itself. He also drew our focus to the biblical emphasis on servant leadership and how this applies in all walks of life, whether you are a King or not. The National Anthem was sung, and there were prayers and readings.
