King’s Ely athletes were on fine form at the Cambridgeshire Athletics Association’s Track and Field Championships!

Ten of our students competed in the event, which took place at the University of Cambridge Athletics Track on May 11th.

Alesya Giles won a Silver medal in what was her first ever Under 17 1,500-metre race. Joseph Wilde achieved a Silver medal in the Under 15 javelin. Michelle Leung took home a Bronze medal in the Under 17 long jump. Dylan Grisby soared over 150-centimetres in the Under 17 high jump, matching his personal best. Emily Bryan placed fourth in the 100-metre finals.

Kudos to Moses Chong and Edward Mauremootoo, who competed in the Under 15 100-meters, Juliette Hames who ran in the Under 17 300-metres and 800-metres, and Jemima Lacey and Martha Midwood who both competed in the Under 17 high jump.

Miss Michelle Bird, who is Head of Athletics at King’s, said: “All of our athletes displayed impressive performances on what was a scorching hot day. Competitors were mainly representing their athletics clubs, and the championships showcased a wealth of young talent. Thank you to Mr Allen, our team manager, for his support while I officiated the track races. Also, a big thank you to all of the parents who came out to support the students. It was truly enjoyable to watch everyone compete.”
