“A very warm welcome back to the Summer Term. Despite the challenge of exams that all pupils face, there is undoubtedly something very optimistic about this term, and I hope each pupil can make the very most of the opportunities available.

“The various trips and activities over the Easter break were a reminder that school is far more than academic study. I have been delighted to hear pupils and staff speaking so enthusiastically about their experiences. Over 50 rowers trained (and revised) in Canterbury, over 30 Year 9s were hiking in the Peak District, and 38 members of the Chapel Choir had the privilege of singing in some magnificent churches and cathedrals in Sicily. Even further afield, a small group of pupils and staff are currently in La Reunion, the small island approximately 400 miles off the coast of Madagascar. Closer to home, our Choristers were singing magnificently in the Cathedral throughout the Easter weekend, and a small team took part in the Robocon 2023 Competition. Thank you to all the teaching staff who took these trips and to all the parents who supported.

“Whilst there is a sharp academic focus to this term, I would also encourage pupils to balance their revision and preparation with things that give them joy to enable them to focus more effectively when they sit down to revise.”
