We are so excited to welcome elite accordionists, Ryan Corbett and Djordje Gajic, to King’s this week!

Tickets for the talented duo’s Recital Series Concert on Thursday, June 20th are selling fast, so book yours sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.

Ryan, a Classic FM Rising Star, is hailed by Sir James MacMillan as “one of the most astonishing and surprising newcomers in Scottish music.” A leading exponent of his instrument, he has given over eight hours of radio broadcasts and a televised performance at the Scottish Coronation of HM King Charles III.

International prize winner, Djordje, is Ryan’s former teacher. He currently teaches at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Edinburgh University, Douglas Academy and St. Mary’s Music School.

Mr Peter North, our Head of Vocal Studies and who is organising the concert, said: “This promises to be a concert like no other that we have had in the Recital Series, even after 32 years! I saw Ryan in concert last summer and I was not really sure what I was expecting, but it turned out to be one of the best concerts I have ever been to. The combination of superb technical skill, a fantastic sense of musicality, and the very physical presence of the accordion, created a wonderful experience for the audience. I decided then that I wanted to try and get Ryan to King’s. When I then saw that he had recently given a concert with his former teacher, which included Stravinsky’s Petrushka, one of my favourite pieces, I decided to ask him as well. We are in for a real treat and one not likely to be repeated, so make sure you do not miss the opportunity!”

Their concert is being held in our Recital Hall at 7pm. Tickets are £15 for adults and free for Under 18s. Everyone is welcome.
