KING’S Ely Junior pupils and staff have been discovering more about Advent in their Ely Cathedral services this week.

They have enjoyed learning about the Advent wreath; the fact that it is evergreen symbolising immortality, its shape representing eternity, prickly holly representing Christ’s crucifixion and the pine cones, nuts and seedpods as a symbol of life and resurrection. The significance of the purple, pink and white candles on the branches of the wreath has also been explored.

Thank you to King’s Ely Sixth Form students Will Ingless, Eleanor Wallace, Oliver Johnson and Tessa Hawes (who were all once pupils at King’s Ely Junior) for leading the Advent prayers with King’s Ely Junior’s Heads of Houses!
