WHEN Prime Brass gives a concert in the Hayward Theatre on Friday, 9 March, Ely will once again get the chance to hear why the pundits of Classic FM described this brass ensemble as ‘exceptional’.

Prime Brass: Blue Rondo was one of Classic FM’s CDs of 2006.

These are musicians equally at home at both ends of the music spectrum and they promise an eclectic mix for this, the latest in the current series of concerts organised by King’s Ely Concert Society.

Trumpeter Michel Sedwick, King’s Ely Head of Brass, was one of the founder members of the Cambridge-based ensemble which was formed in 1989 by fellow trumpeter Paul Garner.

In addition to regular ten-piece and quintet performances, Prime Brass often expands for a number of dates every year when their repertoire includes symphonic works and they are regularly invited to appear in Ely Cathedral and King’s College Chapel, Cambridge.

The Hayward Theatre concert begins at 7.30pm. Tickets are £9 (£8 concessions, children free) and are available from boxoffice@kingsely.orgor telephone 01353 653931.
