“King’s Ely is a magical school. It feels like you are being given a big hug when you are here.”
This is one of many amazing comments that we have received from families who attended our Whole School Open Morning on Saturday (September 23rd).
King’s Ely Acremont Pre-Prep, Prep, Senior, and Ely itself looked stunning in the autumn sunshine, as more than 100 prospective pupils and their families came together to meet our staff and students, tour our facilities and grounds, discover the vast opportunities on offer, and experience that unique spirit for which King’s is renowned.
In an email sent to our Admissions Team over the weekend, one prospective parent wrote: “What a fantastic morning you laid on on Saturday. Our sons enjoyed their time at King’s hugely!”
Another family said: “Thank you all for a really enjoyable open morning. Our daughter really enjoyed her visit and we are definitely keen to explore Year 7 entry. Please pass on our thanks to our tour guide, who was delightful and gave us an excellent tour, full of lots of enthusiasm and lovely details.”
Organising an Open Event of this scale is a huge team effort – students, SLT, teaching staff, boarding staff, catering, admissions, marketing, gardens and grounds, custodians, housekeeping – everyone plays a part!
When it comes to using external suppliers, we also try to support local companies wherever we can. The stunning floral displays were created by Thatch & Roses; based in Ely, the delicious hotdogs were made by Clark & Son Butchery and Fine Foods; based in Long Melford, and the rolls in which the hotdogs were served were made by Grain Culture Bake Shop; based in Ely.
