Our King’s Ely Prep Prizegiving Service was a splendid affair!

Hundreds of students, staff, families, and friends of the school packed inside Ely Cathedral for the ceremony, which is held annually to celebrate our Years 3-8 pupils’ successes and endeavours.

‘Achievement Prizes’, ‘Contribution to School Life Prizes’, and ‘Commitment to Learning Prizes’ were awarded to pupils in each year group.

There were also ‘Year 6 Major Academic Awards’, ‘Year 8 Major Academic Prizes’, ‘Year 8 Head of House Prizes’, ‘Year 8 Special Achievement Prizes’, ‘Head’s Prizes’, and a whole host of subject and specialist awards, including ‘The Science Prize’, ‘The Ferraby Essay Prize’, ‘The Anthony Lowery Memorial Prize for History’, and ‘The Ashman Shield for Commitment to Learning’, to name just a few.

Retiring Head of King’s Ely Prep, Mr Richard Whymark, said: “Along with those who are receiving prizes today, we recognise and applaud all the children not receiving prizes too. The thousands of merits, effort certificates, postcards, head’s commendations, and other awards presented in our celebratory assemblies throughout the year have contributed to our shared successes and to the progress made by all of the children. Some may have narrowly missed out on receiving an award today, whilst others will have contributed in a myriad of other ways not represented here. We are here together as one community to celebrate all our shared endeavours alongside those receiving prizes on this occasion.”

Choristers sang ‘Psalm 96’, ‘Let The Earth Resound’ was performed by Choristers, King’s Voices, and Brass Players, and prayers were led by Samuel and Beau.
