Our Enzymes Cricket Team enjoyed a friendly fixture against Swaffham Bulbeck Cricket Club on the evening of June 3rd.

The Enzymes are a mixture of King’s Ely staff, students and Old Eleans, and the T20 match took place on Campus Field.

Mr Harrison Palmer, who is Head of Boys’ Cricket at King’s, said: “Swaffham Bulbeck won the toss and elected to bat on what looked a very green pitch. Some good bowling from Teachers, Mr Batty and Mr Stevens, and Old Eleans, Tom Stiff, Daniel Millard, Sol Boon, Johnny Pickthorn, Ed Moss, Alastair Macarthur, Tom Parry and Charlie Boyle, resulted in Swaffham Bulbeck achieving 141-5 off their 20 overs.

“The batting started well, with current Year 12 student, Fred Marshall, taking the opening bowler for 8 off the first 3 balls, using the powerplay nicely. Wickets unfortunately continued to fall, although some resilient batting from Daniel Millard (24) kept the boys behind the run rate but not out of the game. Several more wickets fell, which included a hattrick later on in the match courtesy of H. Westbrook, who bowled an astounding 4 overs, 1 maiden, 22 runs, 7 wickets. Swaffham Bulbeck were the well-deserved winners on the evening, bowling the young Enzymes side out for 86. It was great to see old friends meeting up again to play Cricket in a competitive environment, which they all very much enjoyed.”
