A group of King’s Ely Senior students visited London’s Shakespeare’s Globe to see ‘Much Ado About Nothing’.

The trip was organised by Mrs Katherine Shaw, Teacher of English at King’s Ely Senior, for our Year 9 pupils who did not go on the World War One Battlefields Trip to France and Belgium. Around 30 students watched the play, which Mrs Hayley Pienaar, Teacher of English at King’s Ely Senior, described as “nothing short of a sensory feast, captivating everyone from start to finish”.

As well as enjoying the production, the group also got to participate in an engaging workshop with Vicki Wienand, who is joint Series Editor of the Cambridge School Shakespeare Series, published by Cambridge University Press. Vicki believes in bringing texts to life by encouraging students to enact the scripts. Mrs Pienaar said: “Vicki’s enthusiasm set the tone for an unforgettable day. Special thanks to Mrs Shaw for organising such a splendid experience!”
