SEVEN of our Year 10 Spanish studying students had great fun at the Spanish Study Day at London’s BFI Southbank on March 3rd.

The purpose of the event, entitled ‘Viva el cine en Español’, was to practise students’ Spanish skills in a different context, using cinema as a vehicle.

Elliot Bord, one of the students who went on the trip, said: “In the morning session, we worked on our written and oral skills in a workshop led by Dr Lidia Meras. The workshop entailed watching short films and learning new vocab, or subtitling the film in English.

“In the afternoon, we watched a full film entitled ‘Campeones’, which is a comedy about a disgruntled basketball coach trying to teach the sport to people with mental illness.

“We all had a thoroughly enjoyable day and we learned a multitude of skills to help us maximise the use of the Spanish language.”
