King’s Ely Prep was victorious at the PECT Eco Awards!

Six members of our diligent Prep Eco Committee – Oscar, Olivia, Isabelle, Patrick, Charlotte and Freya – Mrs Alison Inskip and Mrs Helen Melville attended the PECT Eco Awards, which were held at The Key Theatre in Peterborough on May 23rd.

The annual awards are a fantastic opportunity for primary and secondary school pupils and staff to come together and take part in practical hands-on activities to inspire new ideas and projects to take back to school.

Team King’s won the ‘Landmark Theatres Host Award’, voted for by representatives from The Key Theatre based on the most inspiring team. Freya and Charlotte also received ‘ECO Ambassadors of the Year 2024’ nomination certificates!

Mrs Inskip said: “The children’s tireless efforts to make King’s Ely a sustainable school have been rewarded! The committee members did an amazing job. They presented their projects on sustainable travel, reducing waste, and cutting energy use with confidence and enthusiasm to local dignitaries and visitors from the industry.

“The children took part in activities, learning about microplastic pollution in rivers, monitoring air quality in classrooms, and sustainable food choices; whilst making some delicious pancakes. Well done team. You are all amazing!”

King’s Ely Prep’s Eco Committee meets every Tuesday afternoon after school. If your child would like to join, email alisoninskip@kingsely.org
