Twenty-one King’s Ely students competed in the prestigious English Schools’ Athletic Association (ESAA) Track and Field Cup.

School athletes from far and wide participated in the event, which took place at the University of East Anglia (UEA) in Norwich on Tuesday, May 7th.

Our fantastic team of Years 9 and 10 students secured a respectable 7th place finish, and Miss Michelle Bird, our Head of Athletics, could not be prouder!

Miss Bird said: “This event brought together young athletes in a team competition format, where individual performances contributed to the overall team score. King’s was represented by twenty-one enthusiastic athletes, who competed in various track and field events. Each student displayed commendable effort, contributing points which culminated in both our boys’ and girls’ teams securing a respectable 7th place finish.

“Although this placement does not advance us to the next round, the experience gained and the team spirit fostered is significant. As we reflect on the day, the true victory lies in the joy of participating. Our athletes demonstrated resilience, sportsmanship, and a commitment to their personal and team growth. These experiences are what prepare our students for future competitions and life beyond school sports. Congratulations to everyone who took part in this challenging competition!”
