In Reception, children build on the love of learning established in our Nursery with a range of provision that allows them to learn and discover through first-hand experiences and experimentation.

Year 1 presents new challenges through a vibrant, creative curriculum. Independence and ‘having a go’ are encouraged, and individuality is nurtured in a supportive environment. Children are able to start individual music lessons with visiting Music Teachers from King’s Ely Prep School. 

Year 2 children broaden their knowledge, skills and experience, venturing out of their comfort zone learning German, Games, Dance and Music with specialist teachers in preparation for their move to King’s Ely Prep in Year 3. All Year 2 children have taster sessions on string instruments, an excellent opportunity for children to ‘have a go’ and develop a love of music.

All Pre-Prep children are taught PE, Games and Dance by specialist teachers from the Prep and Senior sections of the school and have regular swimming lessons in the Summer Term. After School Clubs offer the opportunity to learn sports such as Football, Tag Rugby, Netball, Cricket, Tennis and Golf.

Additional support

Our Learning Support Co-ordinator provides support and advice to ensure that where possible, pupils’ needs will be met in the classroom through high-quality, differentiated teaching. For pupils who may have a higher level of need, a specialist teacher provides additional, tailored support in small groups.
