A Level Photography

Students learn the language of photography, how to read and analyse their images, including the techniques, processes and skills.

 

Students regularly achieving some of the highest exam marks in the country.

Knowledge of Art, Craft and Design will be developed through research, working from first-hand experience and secondary, resource material. Practical and analytical skills will also be developed.

Students will learn practical and contextual styles of work associated with digital techniques, and traditional methods of work including portraiture, landscape and still life photography, fashion and experimental imagery. 

Candidates are required to participate actively in the course of study, recognising and developing their own strengths in the subject and identifying and sustaining their own lines of enquiry.

This course gives the appropriate foundation for further study of Art and Design or related subjects in higher education.

Prerequisite

Minimum grade 6 in GCSE Art and Design.
Topic Overview

 

Photography will cover the practical and contextual/critical work associated with digital techniques alongside traditional methods of work including portraiture, landscape and still life photography, fashion and experimental imagery.
Assessment

 

Unit 1: Coursework (Personal investigation 1000 - 3000 words) - 60% of marks.

Unit 2: Externally set assignment - 40% of marks.
