Assessment Visit

Children are invited for an Assessment Visit, where a teacher will engage with them within a classroom or playroom setting. Your child will spend time in their current year group, with their peers.  They will be observed in a variety of practical and play-based activities and conversations.  An offer will be made in writing following a successful assessment visit.  Families will have fourteen days to accept the offer.

Acceptance of a Place

The Acceptance Form will be sent out with the Offer Letter.

Parents are required to sign the Acceptance Form, which includes confirmation that they have read and accepted the school's Terms and Conditions.  These can be found within the policies section of this website.

An Acceptance Deposit of £600 is payable at this stage.

Settling in Sessions

The main Induction Day for Pre-Prep children starting in September takes place in mid-June each year.  During their Move Up Morning, children will spend time with their future class teacher and classmates.

Induction into the Nursery will take the form of three bespoke 'settling in' sessions of increasing length which are tailored to the needs of your child.  These are organised by the Nursery staff in the weeks leading up to your child's start date.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I apply for a place for my child at King's Ely Pre-Prep?

To apply for a place, download a Registration Form and submit it to Admissions along with the registration fee.

What is the youngest age my child can attend Nursery?

We take children into Nursery in the September following their second birthday.  Should you wish your child to join Nursery as they turn two years old, please discuss this with the Admissions Team.  Registration can take place prior to birth.  Settling in sessions are arranged before the planned start date.

Is the Nursery open all year?

Contracts for Nursery are either term time only (34 weeks per year) or full year places (47 weeks per year).

For the Nursery, is there a minimum number of sessions that I need to book for my child?

Yes.  The minimum number of sessions that you need to book is three each week.  We offer morning sessions, full days (with pick up at 6pm) and short days (with pick up at 4pm).

Are nappies included within the Nursery fee?

Nappies are not provided within the Nursery fee. Parents have to provide their child’s own nappies.  However, wipes, whole milk and nappy cream are included.  Sun lotion should also be provided by parents.

Can I claim the Government funded 15 or 30 hours free childcare for my three-year old?

The Nursery does not offer Government funded places.  We do, however, accept the tax-efficient school vouchers increasingly offered by employers.  Please contact the Admissions Team to check which schemes we accept.

We are moving to England from overseas and my child has limited English. Can they still attend King's Ely Pre-Prep?

We do not have specific ESOL provision available in King’s Ely Acremont but we welcome children from all countries and backgrounds.  Immersion, at this age, is often the best way to acquite new language skills and confidences.

How soon can we start the Admissions process for Reception?

Entry into Reception takes place in the September prior to your child's fifth birthday.  Visits and Registration can take place at any time.  Trial Days are offered prior to September entry.  These will be followed by a formal written offer in line with our Admissions Process.

Can my child start at King's Ely Pre-Prep mid-year?

Should you require a mid-term or mid-year start in a particular year group, please contact Admissions to enquire about availability.  Admission to Nursery is age-dependent and can happen at any time during the year subject to availability.

How do I secure a place for my child to start at King's Ely Pre-Prep?

A £600 deposit is payable to secure your child’s place at King's Ely Pre-Prep. This is submitted to Admissions, along with the Acceptance Form.

Do children wear a uniform at King's Ely Pre-Prep?

Uniform is worn in Nursery and all subsequent year groups.  A uniform list can be found in the Acremont (Nursery & Pre-Prep) Handbook which is shared with families as part of the admissions process.

Is there a second-hand uniform shop?

Yes. Details will be sent to you during the admissions process.

What is your provision for wraparound care, i.e. early and late stays?

King's Ely Pre-Prep opens at 08:00 for breakfast club and closes at 18:00 after the daily programme of clubs and activities.  There is no wraparound care in the Nursery as the sessions offered cover the period from 08.00-18.00, as detailed in our Fees and Charges.
