Bravo to King’s Ely Prep pupil, Freddie, and teacher, Miss Michelle Bottomley, for their fantastic performances in the recent drama production of ‘Our Town’ in Soham!
Freddie, who is in Year 6, and Miss Bottomley, who is a Key Stage 2 Teacher and Key Stage 3 Learning Support Specialist Teacher here at King’s, were delighted to star alongside each other in the Viva Arts and Community Group show.
‘Our Town’ is a three-act play written by American playwright, Thornton Wilder, in 1938. Described by Edward Albee as “the greatest American play ever written”, it presents the fictional American town of Grover’s Corners between 1901 and 1913 through the everyday lives of its citizens.
Freddie gave a captivating performance as Wally Webb, son of Editor Webb, who was played by his real father! Miss Bottomley’s debut performance with the award-winning local theatre group highlighted her singing prowess. She also had an important role setting the scenery as the show continued around her.
Last year, Freddie also starred in ‘Bugsy Malone’ with Campaign Amateur Theatre (CAT) Ely. He played two characters – Doodles, one of Dandy Dan’s gang and Loony Bergonzi, the crazy hitman!
