What better way to enjoy some much-needed respite from A-Level revision on a sunny evening than with a barbecue, Giant Jenga, and laughter with friends?!

‘Frolic on the Lawn’ is one of our much-anticipated annual Sixth Form Socials, and this year’s event on May 10th was blessed with glorious sunshine.

Mrs Jane Halls, who is our Sixth Form Supervisor, said: “The evening sunshine lingered in the Old Palace gardens as our Sixth Formers arrived. We began with a wonderful barbeque prepared and served by our Old Palace Catering Team. After this, we went out onto the lawn to enjoy the evening air. Students held a friendly volleyball tournament, with prizes for the winning and the best dressed teams. A hastily formed staff team played their best, but narrowly lost to the students!

“Croquet, Giant Jenga, skittles, and bubble wands were also enjoyed. The evening was great fun and much-needed respite for our Year 13 students, who are busy with revision and exams. We wish them all well.”

In our recent review by the team at Talk Education, they described our Old Palace as “the most impressive Sixth Form centre” they had ever seen. They said: “An incredible space with classrooms, refectory, common rooms, gym and accommodation. Leavers regularly head off to some 50 different UK destinations, including Russell Group universities, Oxbridge, conservatoires, filmmaking schools, and art and design colleges. There is a huge amount to recommend in this all-through school, not least its beautiful setting. But under the bonnet, it is the strong sense of family that really impresses, giving pupils the perfect environment to grow and blossom in.”
