Our Year 7 King’s Ely Prep pupils enjoyed a fascinating Art Trip to Gainsborough’s House before half term!

Located in Sudbury, Suffolk, Gainsborough’s House is the birthplace of the British painter, Thomas Gainsborough. The museum and gallery has a huge collection of Gainsborough’s oil paintings, works on paper, and artefacts on display.

Mrs Sarah Paling, Art Coordinator at King’s Ely Prep and who led the trip, said: “Pupils did a rotation of activities based around the studies in their Art lessons on ‘Landscape and Colour’. Activities included a tour of the historic house, talks in the galleries, sketching in the garden, experiencing the camera obscura in the garden, and making their own camera obscura box which they were able to take home with them. We all had a fantastic day!”
