Old Elean, Molly, takes on half marathon challenge in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support

October 12th, 2024

Congratulations to Old Elean, Beatrice (Molly) Whymark, who has raised more than £600 for a charity close to her heart by completing her first half marathon!

Molly, who is in her final year at the University of Leeds studying Graphic and Communication Design, took on the Run Yorkshire Roundhay October Half Marathon, not only to put her stamina to the test, but to also raise funds and awareness for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Molly, who left King's Ely Sixth Form in 2021, crossed the 21.1-kilometre finish line in 2 hours, 12 minutes, and 26 seconds. She has raised £625 in donations so far.

Molly, who also works as a Design Assistant at luxury Leeds-based brand, James Hare, raises money for Macmillan each year. In 2023, she did a tandem skydive to support the charity, which she described as "absolutely fantastic".
