Junior MasterChef competition goes down a storm at King's Ely Prep!

Budding chefs and bakers at King's Ely Prep grabbed their whisks and tied up their aprons to take part in our 'Junior MasterChef' contest.

The competition was fierce but it was Years 7 and 8 pupils, Lucian, Ted, Arya, Rosalind, Ethan, and Charlotte who each achieved a place in the final. The finalists were given two hours to make the most impressive Bakewell tart that they could.

All six finalists did brilliantly, demonstrating a strong range of technical skills in the kitchen. However, after much deliberation, the judges, Mr John Attwater, Principal of King's Ely, and Mr Simon Kibler, Head of King's Ely Prep, announced Arya as our Junior MasterChef 2024 winner. Ted achieved a very close second place.

Congratulations of course to Arya, Ted, and the finalists, but well done to every single pupil who took part. Thank you to Mrs Lizelle Goosen, Teacher of Food and Nutrition, for organising the competition; to Mrs Lorraine Davidson, Head of Food and Nutrition, for her support; to Mr Attwater and Mr Kibler for judging the final; and Mr Edward Allen, Design Technology Technician, for making the trophy!
