We were delighted to welcome students from Ely College to participate in our Model United Nations (MUN) event recently.
Twenty-two King's and Ely College students took part in the MUN, which was held in the Old Palace Lecture Theatre, and was organised by Mrs Melanie Franklin, who is our Head of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).
MUN is an educational simulation of the United Nations to teach students about diplomacy, international relations, and global issues. During a MUN conference, pupils assume the roles of representatives of countries, organisations, or individuals to collaborate and address global challenges.
The main topic on the agenda at our MUN was the social and economic inclusion of refugees.
Mrs Franklin said: "MUN is a great opportunity for students to enhance their debating, research, and critical thinking skills. Some very tricky and forthright questions were posed to countries and they responded admirably. Many of the students who took part are from overseas, and it was brilliant to see them taking their English to the next level."
Congratulations to King's and Ely College students who were awarded prizes for their debating and negotiation skills, and well done to every single pupil who got involved!
