King's Ely Prep mathematicians on fantastic form in Times Tables Rock Stars competition

Our Year 6 mathematicians were on fantastic form in this year's Times Tables Rock Stars 'England Rocks' competition! 

King's Ely Prep was one of 4,168 schools which took part in the competition during Maths Week England (November 11th-15th).

The results are in, and we can confirm that Mrs Rachel Axten-Higgs' group achieved 80th place, and Dr Stephen Church's group secured 97th place. Out of the 477 schools in the East of England region which took part, Mrs Axten-Higgs' class were 4th, and Dr Church's group were 5th!

Our highest achieving pupils were Nicholas (1st place), Saisha (2nd place), and Massimo (3rd place). They each received a fabulous King's Ely Rubik's Cube, which linked nicely to their Rubik's Cube challenge workshops, which were also held during Maths Week England.

Times Tables Rock Stars is run by Maths Circle Ltd, an EdTech company which creates award-winning maths programmes, dedicated to helping children acquire fundamental numeracy skills in a fun and engaging way.

We were also thrilled to welcome Andrew Jeffrey - aka 'The Mathemagician' - to King's Ely Prep during Maths Week England. Andrew brought his 'The Maths and the Magic of Rubik's Cube' show to the Morbey Hall. Pupils in Years 3-6 were captivated by Andrew as he shared magical facts, number patterns, 2D and 3D shapes, cubes, triangles, squares, probability and permutations, as well as producing an impossible object.
